EVENT: ClubITR February BBQ

Last Sunday on February 26th was the first ClubITR BBQ of the year held down at Zen Garage in Leichhardt. Team Cars For Hope decided to make our way down their after the ClubITR x Cars For Hope BBQ at Lane Cove National Park last November. Arriving at Zen Garage, we saw the usual forum members already catching up and conversing about their ITRs and Hondas. Unlike November’s BBQ, however, this one seemed to have a more relaxed attitude with fewer cars and members in attendance. Though this didn’t mean there was a shortage in the quality of the cars at the meet with cars weren’t limited to ITRs – a range of Civics, and even an Evo and a Lotus also joined in the BBQ.

Zen Garage proved to be the perfect setting for this month’s BBQ, with a relaxed atmosphere and ample parking space for cars to park as well as for forum members to socialise.

The Cars For Hope ITR was in a white sandwich between 2 EP3 Type Rs of which there were quite a few, just outside Zen Garage. When the spaces outside were exhausted, cars began to spill out on to the street.

It’s been a while since we’ve caught up with the members of ClubITR, however we were very excited to see everyone again!

This red EG looks mild to the eye sitting on a set of RPF1s, but on closer inspection was a race-inspired, fully gutted interior complete with carbon fibre bonnet to lighten what already is a very light car.

Though not all of the cars arriving at the BBQ were of a circuit guise, such as this DC2 ITR running a stock-looking exterior.

It was difficult to divert our eyes away from the fabulously presented DC5’s in the sea of Hondas.

This DC5S proves how only some simple exterior modifications can really change the presence of a car…

..such as a set of Enkei RPF1s which seem to be a popular choice on Hondas of all shapes and sizes.

Siting inside Zen Garage was Prash’s DC5 sporting a similar treatment of some wheels, a subtle lip kit and a lower to really set it off. Berty has driven it around Wakefield Park and stresses that it isn’t all show for this DC5!

A set of Work Emotion 11Rs and a rear tow hook add that subtle race-style touch, complimented by a ride height that won’t leave the undercarriage behind on Sydney’s notorious roads.

It was great to see it and many other cars on the day representing Cars For Hope with one of our stickers on the rear quarter window.

But tucked away in a corner away from the gaze of the public was Justin Fox’s DC2R acquired from ex-Autosalon Magazine art director Michael ‘Papz’ Papandrea.

If being surrounded by Hondas was too much, the GT5 simulator was waiting for challengers to see who could lap Tsukuba the fastest…in a Honda no less.

But Berty had other ideas on how to drive GT5, adopting a ‘fully-sick’ gangster driving position.

Or one could simply venture outside to be greeted by John’s Exige, but you can never really be away from a Honda at a ClubITR BBQ, with a K24 lying under the bonnet of this beast.
